quick update
Hello everyone,
Welcome back to another development update for Chrono Flora! I've been hard at work refining the core gameplay mechanics and I'm excited to share what's new.
Camera and Movement Enhancements
First off, I've made some significant improvements to the camera system. I've fine-tuned it to be smoother and more responsive, ensuring that it always provides the best view of the action by zooming out while moving, and breathing back in when idle, without any jarring movements. This should make exploring the world of Chrono Flora a much more pleasant experience.
Alongside the camera improvements, player movement has received a major overhaul. I've implemented a new locomotion system that includes more fluid motion and transitions. Now, your character seamlessly shifts between idling, walking, running, and even swinging a knife to interact with the environment
Animation Updates
Speaking of animations, I've enriched the player character's repertoire with detailed animations for each state:
- Idling: Watch as your character bobs up and down, ready for action.
- Walking and Running: Smooth transitions that reflect the speed of movement.
- Swinging a Knife: Essential for cutting down plants to gather them.
Our First Plant!
On a lighter note, I've finally introduced the first plant graphic into Chrono Flora—a game about plants! Yes, it took me a while, but we got there.
Looking Ahead
I apologize for not having visuals in this update. I'm focusing on getting these elements just right before showing them off. The next build aims to include robust features such as:
- Map Collision: To prevent walking through objects as if they’re ghostly apparitions.
- Sprite Z-Ordering: To ensure that all objects and characters display correctly in the environment.
- Plant Interaction: The ability to cut down a plant and collect it will be a key gameplay feature, and I'm polishing this to make it intuitive and fun.
Thank You!
Thank you all for following my journey and taking the time to read this devlog. I am eager to show you the fruits of my labor (and more plants!) very soon. Your support and feedback mean the world to me as I continue to shape Chrono Flora into a game you can play.
Until next time 🌿
