v03 Changelog (inc. v02)


NOTE: v02 was rolled into this one, v03 is only a minor update that changes.  

  • the rendering target to high definition mode 
  • shader model 5 enabled 
  • new cyberpunk / synthwave animated background thanks to increasing the shader model 

Functionality remains unchanged

v02's changelog was as follows:

  • Improved collision
  • Position of ball hitting the paddle can influence ball trajectory 
  • Background shaders 
  • Audio when ball(s) hit bricks 


Not done yet, way more to come. I've been learning how to do pixel shaders in monogame because there's an aesthetic here that I'd like to aim for. And when I've got that all figured out, I'd like to update YIP with the findings discovered for this thing. 

Meanwhile I have so many new ideas I'd like to tackle, but I want this thing to be a complete game experience, with hopefully the next update including

  • multiple levels
  • main menu
  • game over menu
  • gui 
  • bricks visually responsive to hits 
  • paddle and bricks to be given a new look
